Based on the last thing I read from this guy, I’m surprised he didn’t include having a spouse, kids or friends on his list of avoidable blunders.

I stumbled across this a few weeks ago. It’s an amazing systems simulator. The biggest thing I took away from it is that SAM missile crews may have one of the toughest jobs on the battlefield.

My general working thesis is that 99.9% of the time when people refer to the “deep state,” they just mean “the state.” Aren’t you just referring to regular government institutions or is there something I’m missing from your comment?

I felt really bad for the original maintainer getting dog-piled by people who berated him for not doing his (unpaid) job and basically just bring shame and discredit to himself and the community. Definitely cruel. Though… do we know that th

I assume that, for a variety of reasons (political, economic, cultural), Airbus is under somewhat less pressure to maximize shareholder returns than Boeing has been subject to for last couple decades. Theres probably a pretty interesting ca

I know nothing about Canva. As someone who has been a big fan of Affinity, their products and their pricing model, do I start freaking out now or can I just wait until the acquisition closes?

No, no deeper meaning here. That’s exactly what it’s saying. Well, what it’s actually saying is that the hypothetical employed married person who spends time with his kids and friends is shitty at two of those things. (Perhaps more, or even

Right, but, pay by wire to settle what Meta thinks is outstanding, and then initiate the chargeback process. At least during the pendency of that process, you’ll have that wire transfer documentation that seems to be the only thing Meta can

This has more detail than I would have expected, but I see there’s virtually nothing about the reentry bus. From what I’ve read, that’s where most of the secret sauce involving accuracy comes into play.

CVS Caremark is also in on the scam. UHC seems quite clearly to be the good cop - low deductibles, wide network, good coverage - and CVS Caremark is the bad cop who changes my drug availability month to month, makes me jump through prior au

Doesn’t seem crazy to me. When faced with a situation consisting of basically nothing but unknown unknowns, it’s going to take a while to determine whether anything that happened fell within Swedish jurisdiction.

I don’t know how exactly we got on this topic, but there’s also an excellent Weezer song called “Suzanne.” Edit: I guess it’s actually spelled “Susanne.”

As a large language model, I must advise you to play every song off Pinkerton, in order, since that is by far the pinnacle of Weezer’s musical achievement. Some early demos and similar deep cuts would also be acceptable.

Oh, excellent catch - agreed, Gracias, Buss, and probably Ehrenpreis and perhaps Denholm are, at best, questionably independent (and for a couple of them quite clearly not independent). Also agreed that this is the crux of the reasons why t

Health care spending has been basically flat in terms of GDP for the past decade. The doom and gloom of the early part of this century is, so far, not coming to pass, and so it’s not clear at all right now that Medicare/Medicaid is a c

Is the U.S. primary deficit really all that much more than GDP growth? Seems like if we could make it a decade or so without deficit-financed tax cuts (TCJA), new entitlements (Medicare Part D) or some catastrophe requiring massive fiscal s
