If, as another commenter said, this is only for use on freeways, I’m not sure how than is any different from the system in my 2021 BMW. Is MB’s assumption of liability the only thing pushing it up to L3? Otherwise the capabilities sound ide

Maybe I’m just a naive idiot, but I thought her point was not the danger of sudo’ing random shell scripts per se but any sort of “solution” to restore the prior capabilities of a consumer product that required that level of technical acumen

“Flawed and expensive but still fun” is perhaps the best capsule summary of DCS I’ve ever seen.

Sounds great, I’m jealous. From what I understand, the privately funded project to build high-speed rail in Texas recently melted down and the prospects look increasingly pessimistic (despite some key court wins that would have let them exe

He’s clearly wrong about one thing: > Moving to Mars is a pipedream for 99.9999% of the population. It’s actually a pipe dream for 100% of the population. Slightly more seriously, I think he’s too pessimistic about the impact of renewabl

SiriusXM periodically demands that I assent to their new terms and conditions (despite the fact that I’m frequently on a trial or pre-paid subscription). I think I can ignore/dismiss it indefinitely without it cutting service to the ra

Is 1blocker trustworthy? I have a vague recollection that they pulled some sort of bait and switch a while back, and deprecated their paid app in favor of a subscription-based app. I see that they at least offer a lifetime license, which is

The number of people in Houston who have Enron on their resumes is incredible. Probably every fifty-something in Houston doing anything in finance or finance-adjacent is an Enron alum. Great recap of your experience, btw.

Fair enough. Most of my experience tends to be with chains. But my impression is that the non-chain hotels I book don’t typically appear on aggregators so I’m usually booking with them directly in any event.

99% of the time, you’ll get the same or better deal by booking online with the hotel directly. (Airfares, I’m less sure - the proliferation of hyper segmented economy and fees make me dubious about what the actual all-in cost of any given f

Great post. It sometimes is a little bit awesome and terrifying to consider the edifice on which the entire superstructure of IP ownership rests. Think about all that intangible property out there that’s subject to long forgotten contracts,

I’m of an age where the name Newsweek still has some inertial value of quality (and, in fact, I somewhat preferred it to Time). Sad to see what it’s become.

Why is China still struggling to build reliable, top-tier aircraft engines? Isn’t relatively non-exotic metallurgy fairly rudimentary technology compared to cutting edge semiconductor fabrication?
