A static site would have saved you here, particularly if you are using something like nginx. Even with apache, you'd still be fine. Wordpress cacheing HN traffic should do fine too. There's something else going on here.

Not that. I lost a bunch of weight (50+ lbs) by eating the same meals over and over and over and over again. If I had to text 1cup this, 3oz that, 1/2 cup flour, blah, blah every time I ate, I'd go buy a large pizza from a chain store and g

Even so IBM's business model when they are not selling wetware involves selling expensive black boxes that are maintained, installed, and serviced by expensive wetware. Even though it makes up half of revenue, that doesn't mean the other ha

They don't. The parent is wrong in suggesting someone 'convinced' Buffet. Because of the herd mentality around investing who invests in you does matter, but not for this discussion.

Please post at least your target market and what you hope to achieve or what your objective is. Do you want mindshare or do you want to convert to sales? What is your product or service?

This is correct. I have a relatively high karma score on HN. When I post, I usually go to the top of the thread in either the #1 or #2 spot. This is an example of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, not some secret plan to

I've read through a lot of that it still doesn't make sense to me that someone would be uncomfortable with the unwashed masses getting access to previously unattainable goods. We both agree that certain goods produce a signaling effect. Whe

I thought their numbers seem inflated too. I wonder if this signals 'they are thinking big' which results in investors thinking 10x instead of the no-invest 2x number.

What you'll find is that often the talk and publicity is the dog and pony show needed to drive business. That's not to say it isn't valuable; it is. The problem is that ultimately the dog and pony show has to accomplish it's objective: get

I agree with you, but the main reason to do this is to keep it it DRY(Don't Repeat Yourself). Templating systems help with this a lot, but they don't completely get you around being able to add the class 'round' to everything you want to ha

I would argue we are still in an era of cheap gas. Expensive gas is more like $5 - $7 in the midwest. I'm sure out on the coasts you're pumping up against that already. You're idling for maybe 10 - 15 minutes, so most people don't care. In

I'm not sure it does need that much liquidity. But, at what point are we not liquid enough? Is hourly liquidity enough? It's a good question, but I'm not sure how you measure what 'enough' is.

It seems plausible to make it so that people can't become corporations. 1. The IRS already does this with certain classes of businesses in which they make it illegal to form them purely for tax avoidance purposes. 2.You set the corporate in
