This is an awful post. Starts with saying how Windows XP crashed and continues with a bunch of anecdotes. Here's another anecdote. I have yet to use Ubuntu on a machine where everything just worked. I love Linux and use it every day. It's n

The data is also encrypted with your own key. I know that's an option with at least one of those Mozy or Backblaze apps but definitely not with Dropbox.

WebOS was so close to being amazing. I can only hope they pull off something amazing with HTC or Samsung making the hardware. On the other hand if Apple makes a 7" tablet I won't even have a major reason to look elsewhere.

The OS is on par with the iPad but the hardware is not. An iPad is thinner and lighter and made of glass and metal (as opposed to plastic) but they both cost $500. If you can't match Apple's aesthetics then you shouldn't charge the same pri

Why can't I upgrade my digital edition? Not that books are that expensive but if the original is work $20 why is the same thing with a few minor changes still $20?

Their aesthetics are bad and their iTunes ratings are low. Pretty sure they would have lost to Kindle, iBooks, Nook, etc. anyway.

Indeed, regardless of how you choose your passwords email is a huge target. It's good to see Google and Facebook trying to thwart this by adding account activity information, etc.

Essentially you are using a private hashing algorithm. You're trading a bit of convenience for a good chunk more security. If it works for you keep doing it. The important thing is you are using good passwords and segregating sites.

Should someone expect the salaries of H1-B employees to be comparable to resident employees? This is very interesting data but I'm wondering what all can be inferred from it.

Why should there be no fee? Square has already removed the fixed portion of their fee so it is just 2.75% (not ~$0.30 + ~3%). This helps with small transactions. Eventually their competition will have to do the same.

You can view all the apps installed just fine. Ubuntu, unlike many distros, doesn't install 10 of every kind of app so I don't think its necessary.

At first I thought Unity was a stupid idea. That in Canoncial's quest to compete with OS X's "elegance" they were copying one of its most hated features, The Dock. However, after using Alpha 3 and Beta 1 a bit I feel like it is The Dock don

I'm still debating on whether to use Firefox 4. Both Safari and Chrome seem to exhibit "lock ups" while opening a few tabs or while loading content. Maybe others have experience the same thing?

I have not really seen any evidence of GIMP being that poor of a UI. The biggest complaint is the multi-window interface for which single-window mode is currently in alpha and should be out in a few months or so.
