I am pretty sure Clojure is "stable" so nothing changed in the past year.

This reminds me of a funny story. I am using a service called Invoicely for recurring invoices in my small business. One day I randomly googled for some of its features and found a post of a guy who claimed (and I believe him) that Invoicel

Isn’t the second amendment about exactly that?

There’s also the reverse notion of that: “Thank you for buying what I made, I hope it’s really useful, but I am going to keep it away from you unless you pay me forever”.

I remember in one of his interviews, Rich Hickey mentioned that STM isn’t in the language to be used all over the place, it’s there to make some very rarely used things possible, which otherwise would not be possible at all. Which is a very

I always had issues with gastroscopy (I guess mostly panic and uncontrollable reflexes), but recently I discovered that there’s an option to do it through nose instead of mouth (of course, with a thinner tube) — highly recommend it for peop

Wasn’t 2008 crisis due to excessive risk-taking by government-backed banks? I doubt it is an “instruction” on markets efficiency — yes, if a government puts a lot of tax and newly-printed money in ponzi-schemes, bad things will happen.

From my experience, implementation of time zone conversions is too often wrong. I work with many time zones, and strongly prefer either GMT+0 or “x hours ago”.

> A web app added to your home screen affects privacy much less than a native app Yeah, that’s the perfect web app, and we already have these in iPhone. I added HN home page as a “web app” on my Home Screen, works perfectly. Another “web

JavaScript is not untyped, it’s dynamically typed. The types are still there, they are just not enforced at compile time.

It looks to me as if people who started with dynamic types discover static types after many years, and vice versa. There’s a zen koan about it, I am sure.

The parent to my comment says about some "convention to use it rarely" though. Trump so far has used the right 77 times more rarely, and I suspect that the person to whom I replied speaks more about their feelings rather than fact

I feel your pain, for me as a strictly back-end developer it is the same when I have to make front end. May I suggest trying to outsource this small app to a freelancer? It could be a quite time- and cost-effective small project for someone

Why wouldn't you just do exactly what your users passionately want, and make a small app just for notifications? You may even make it paid, so that your efforts are compensated -- I am sure, the users will be happy to support you.

Static typing — yet higher lever abstractions that you mention (like SQL or markup languages) are dynamically typed.
