I know I'm in the minority here on HN, but....look: I feel bad for the developers of the various 3rd-party apps that this is happening. Having the rug pulled from your livlihood just absolutely sucks. Having said that: Can you reall

I’m super ambivalent about stories like this. Ignoring what the actual laws are for a moment - this is a game designed by the casinos to their advantage. If a player can figure out a way to get his or her own advantage, more power to them!

For sure. A bit of luck in several places: I'd been buying and selling casually during my off-hours for the past few years, mostly as a way to keep my brain moving in other areas (some people watched movies in their free time - I bou

I do actually. While I personally am excited about LLMs' potential for good, I think a large swath of the world is ready and equally as excited about their potential for harm / spam / fraud / etc. I'm already seei

…was this written by an LLM? I’m starting to doubt anything on the internet that’s overly cherry and polite. Sigh.

The VSC extension is just a conduit to the OpenAI API. You use your own API key. I haven’t dug into the exact data flow, however, so I can’t speak to whether the extension is collecting any or what data itself.

I too share your pain here - BUT - I have another observation: I think, and I hate that this is true, but I truly think larger enterprises - and specifically the people who make buying decisions within non-technical departments at larger en

I’m a company of one, and I use it every day, multiple times a day as a coding assistant. I’m using the excellent Code Genie (sp?) plug-in to VSC which puts a chat window directly in VSC and does cool things like allow you to highlight bloc

I feel incredible empathy for the people who have had AI companions taken away from them. I don't judge (nor should any of you) and it seems heartless and cruel for the company to have done this. I hope some folks double-down on open

I've had a similar experience (but slightly different). The biggest innovation that ChatGPT has brought to me in my programming/workflow tasks is the comfort and ease in which it creates shell scripts. That's an area that&#x

Agreed 100%. It's absurd. The results get distilled as "more data leads to worse outcomes" and that's ridiculous -- it should be: "more data leads to bad decisions which lead to worse outcomes". We should A

I think you may be missing the intended audience for this — it’s aimed at folks who are visually or otherwise impaired and cannot type using a traditional keyboard/input device.

Oo this is relevant to my world (professional coin & currency dealer here)! A scourge, but relevant. To address a few different things people have said in sibling comments: * Theft/security at coin shows is actually a real issue.

I guess I have a question here: Both this post and many many many posts in the main GPT-4 thread are making this same point. I get it. They started out as OpenAI, and they've realized over time that business is much better if they
