I write C# professionally in my "day job". It's not a bad language to learn if you're just starting out with programming. It's not something that you'll pick up overnight, but if your cofounder is interested in mentoring you, that's the bes

The best way to learn any toolkit is to build something using it. That's particularly true in the case of RoR, since it's very geared towards fast prototyping. If you don't know Ruby, get the pickaxe book. I'd also recommend Agile Web Devel

I have a B.S. in computer science, with a minor in business administration. My university offered courses in entrepreneurship, so I took advantage of those for my minor electives. Definitely go for a technical degree over business. You'll b

I like it. The idea has some good potential. Odd timing, I just read this on Mashable. Looks like a potential competitor with a slightly different take: http://mashable.com/2008/02/07/adcamo/

It depends. Yoko either influenced John's creativity or his relationship with her reflected his shifting values. Either way, it wasn't a lack of creativity that broke up the Beatles, it was a rift between what they wanted to express in term

I'm also working on a startup with my wife as cofounder. We haven't launched yet, but her skillset is a fantastic complement to mine. I'm a very strategic thinker, whereas she's a great tactician and good at organization. She's also brillia

My main argument against the MacBook Air is that you pay more and get less. Sure, it's a flashy computer, but the standard MB and MBP lines are flashy also, yet still competitively-priced. Not to mention, the comparison that he's making on

Really? The Air? It's the slowest Mac on the market. I just don't understand why you'd choose the Air over a regular MacBook.

There are two kinds of businesses. First, there are so-called "lifestyle" businesses, like bars, restaurants, B&Bs, etc. that people start because they'd rather work for themselves than someone else. Most owners of these types of busine

Ouch, billed at $100/hr and got paid $20/hr? You got the shaft. I agree completely with what you're saying. This is what is driving me away from my job at a software consulting firm at the moment.

Some people really need to lay off the downmod button. Not being able to detect sarcasm from plaintext is not a reason to get downmodded. Remind me not to post what I consider helpful information in the future.

This seriously reads like an op-ed from the DailyKos. His premise is poignant (Facebook knows too much), but then he dilutes his message by talking about neocons destroying reality. Politics aside, writing that sort of stuff just makes you

I think a better gauge is the number of features that you can keep in your head, rather than the number of lines of code. (LOC doesn't always directly correlate with complexity, anyway.) I'd say I can usually hold about 50% of the features

YES. The demise of the EP is almost as tragic as that of B-sides. I wish more bands released EPs rather than full albums, because there's always a couple of songs that make you think, "how did that get in there?" (Still, like I said above,

It's definitely familiar to me, but I think it's very important that you DO switch off from time to time. For me, I play Wii or read a book for awhile. (Usually I end up reading a technology book though, but it's relaxing for me. YMMV.) If
