After the initial bait-and-switch annoyance, the app looks great, and it generated some very useful information. Now I need to look into improving my site's rating. :) I'm definitely going to consider signing up for a pro account as you rol

Sort of unrelated to the app, but your blog is very difficult to read on Windows. ClearType combined with the small size of Adobe Garamond Pro makes it very difficult to read. Maybe try a web-safe font like Georgia?

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the bait-and-switch input box there. It'd be better to put the signup form on the front page and be up-front about it, than have someone put their site's address in and get their wrist slapped.

I'm co-founder of http://agilezen.com/ -- lean project management app based on ideas from the Toyota Production System. I'm in charge of developing and maintaining the product, and my other co-founder/wife is in charge of keeping the busi

Automated testing is the only way to improve the baseline quality of your code. It's painful to do in the beginning, but think about it like exercise -- once you make it part of your routine, you'll be healthier overall.

They really don't make their money selling Visual Studio either. They make their money selling Windows, which Visual Studio (and their .NET implementation) is 100% geared towards.

It was looking interesting... now I'm getting 502 Bad Gateway errors. Looks like whatever FastCGI was running behind nginx went away...

I'm not sure who would disagree with this. Love it or hate it, Office is a behemoth.

I agree. The author might as well have called the post "here are 100 login screens".

That's actually as-designed. If you block a story, it means you can't move it... so if you move it, the app figures you fixed what was wrong. :)

Yeah, several people have mentioned the bug. I'm working to fix it now, although I probably won't push again until after EOB today. The size field is free-form... most people use it either with "t-shirt sizing" (small, medium, large) or jus

While the concept of the brand is definitely a reference to Zen Buddhism, the name actually comes from the japanese word "kaizen" -- which is used in lean processes to mean "continuous improvement". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaizen

All very good points. I'll take another look at our features page to see if we can improve.

Of course it's better! :D Kidding. Yeah, actually, we launched the marketing site almost a month ago to build buzz before the launch, and since parts of the application weren't finished, the screenshots are outdated. I need to take the shot

Thanks... and yeah, several others have said that as well. The hint panel was meant to be an overlay, but it does tend to get in the way. I'll have to tweak it. :)

Kanban just means "visual card" or "sign", but it's a name for a technique used in lean software practices. (Specifically, the board display in Zen is called a "kanban board".) It comes from the JIT inventory system of the Toyota Production

IANAL, but you're in dangerous legal territory if you charge two groups of people different amounts for the same product. Either make it a different license offering, or make sure you're not discriminating against either group. :) You reall

If you're only interested in receiving email, Google Apps for Domains is great. If you need to send it (for example, as part of your service), you should check out AuthSMTP ( http://authsmtp.com/ ).

This rant had very little to do with the actual Android UX, and was mostly whining about bad customer service. Not that bad service is excusable, but it doesn't have anything to do with Android itself.
