Yeah that definition would have to be reviewed and I think the first ~10 years would should be free.

My proposition(probably not original at all) is that we let Disney(and anyone else) extend copyright on thing it wants at an ever increasing (exponential) rate. If they have to pay they will make sure to only keep things under copyright tha

There is a little bit of gaming in SO that makes it hard to compete with others that are more dedicated to the site. For example, posting a quick answer and then editing it with the answers from others to complete your answer is one I've se

Yeah I think that trying to emulate the design of the TNG tricorder might be limiting in a way and probably isn't the best design for a mass produced version. This guy needs to start a company and develop the idea. Even if it's just a packa

If I had to bet i'd bet on a mistrial due to an error by the prosecution. Someone in a previous comment did a rough analysis of why it's not certain that 100% of the 25 petabytes of data on mega uploads servers was unlicensed material. Depe

You can't imply that all uploads generating links where done by people who were not licensed to do so. This is why copyright is such a minefield. There is no way to know if someone has a license allowing them to do the things that they do.

Yeah I agree on a lot of the points you mentioned. Block scoping would have been better in my view also. But there are tools, like in other languages, to ease that pain. I never forget a semicolon due to using js2-mode which makes missing s

I think the author is looking at it as more of an experiment than a valuable project with a positive ROI. As jader201 said he will probably discover that it's a pretty tough thing to do when the code wasn't written with testing in mind. I a

I personally think copyright can be a good thing. My beef is with the never ending length extensions and that everything including the piece of napkin I used to doodle on earlier is covered by it. I think the solution is more to push for it

Apple doesn't make a habit of demoing products still in development. In there case when things crash (as they've done in the past) they don't really have a good excuse when that code will get released in a few days. Microsoft isn't done the

I mean what about previous versions of windows? They ran on tablets and desktops. If you mean non-x86 than windows NT initially was going to target MIPS and later became a x86 first(I believe they still released the MIPS version too).

Current cars aren't going to last a full decade without some repairs and maintenance. People don't maintain their computers very well. And upgrading your operating system is part of that maintenance process after a while. Plus changing comp

That's true but for the first part, it's mostly due to a lack of interest by other vendors. For the second part, isn't the nacl team working on a protable version of nacl? It's at least one way to get python in the browser today.
