As a non-American I really don't see how it's different to Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp. And those are all owned by one American corporation.

But government naturally has a monopoly. Like the US already forces publishers to send books to the Library of Congress with the mandatory deposit.

The American Empire strikes again. You'd think they would have seen this coming though. I think a long-term solution is a universal revenue-sharing programme - so like some portion of taxes is allocated to a universal repository, and t

Ukraine is not a member of the EU nor NATO, there were no obligations to intervene or introduce the self-destructive sanctions, etc. We haven't intervened in Armenia or Ethiopia for example.

What I find bizarre about that quote is that the EU itself has been a huge proponent of becoming a refugee centre for the aftermath of American wars. Even now they still punish member countries for trying to enforce their borders.

This. But it's the same with everything in Europe - sky-high income tax and VAT, but zero to little inheritance tax, property tax, land value tax, capital gains tax, etc. Like the idea is to punish workers (skilled and unskilled) and k

I used Glasses Direct - https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk/ a few years ago and they were pretty good for the price. I bought them temporarily but ended up using one pair for 3 years.

But in London you have to pay those employees more if they're paying to commute (and wasting hours of their day on the packed trains every day), buy food in the city, etc. I really can't see it being worth it in massive, overprice

The US has it easy, since the inflation was largely caused by lockdown stimulus, and also benefits from being the global reserve currency so it can leverage cheap imports as the interest rate rises increase the value of USD. I wouldn't

And salaries in healthcare are far, far lower outside the US. Like the UK and Europe pay absolute peanuts in comparison, just like in Tech, Law, etc. too.

I find it hilarious they still call us allies. The US is pushing Europe into complete destitution. it's the furthest from an ally imaginable, just by subtle economic warfare.

I mean you can just look at practical, realist governments like in Singapore, and even China to some extent. The problem is once you're deep in the problem, how do you get out? If you let prices collapse then a lot of homeowners will f

Americans love war. From Vietnam to Iraq to Ukraine to Taiwan. It's all a spectator sport for them. The USA has never been invaded by a foreign power since 1812.
