How many have been given the opportunity to do so? Could a pure apprenticeship model without universities (but still with lots of theory) work for engineering professions?

This advice is a testimony that there's indeed a problem upfront Indeed, and the problem is that IDEs have encouraged developers to write convoluted code and to forget how to navigate a filesystem. Reading code and commit history is

And don't forget the option of just calling into pry at the line in question and typing ls and show-doc . Also ripgrep is incredibly useful for navigating new codebases.

If you don't know dead cold where the trauma center is, you should be calling 911 (or equivalent), not trying to decide where to drive. Given the cost of an ambulance, most people I know will drive themselves to the ER for anything w

There was a problem with early night vision camcorders, in that they could kind of see through beachwear. So maybe that's part of the reason.

I think it's more that they were suggesting that an aggressive response to COVID19 would have appeared to be an anti-China move, and thus further jeopardize the US relationship with China.

It seems likely that a given municipality will only have the political energy to change voting systems once. Given that, it would be preferable to move to something that isn't RCV/IRV in the first place.

It looks like nobody's linked to this older visualization yet, so I will: http://zesty.ca/voting/sim/ The non-monotonicity shown there for instant runoff voting seems to be more undesirable than any downsides

There's less fear than normal right now, as measured by what the market is doing. How broad is the market relative to society? Could say 3% of people investing tons of money, while 97% are not, create the same result we are seeing t

Do the letters in Jam stand for anything like they do in e.g. LAMP? There was no acronym expansion or mention of the name's origin on jamstack.org's top-level page. Edit: eventually found an original definition on Wikipedia: &q

Tone mapping is very much a subjective process. There's no one "HDR" algorithm. At best the camera could convert everything to linear or logarithmic light and save in OpenEXR or something like that.

That right there is the textbook definition of guilt tripping. This line can be applied to literally every side of every argument. It has no content, no explanatory power, it's just another excuse for attempted manipulation.

Tell me, how did Microsoft "suppress" Java? One way to suppress something is by diluting it or distracting from it with a bunch of slightly different options. Kind of like the spoiler effect in first-past-the-post elections.

I'm sure most of those "science for kids" book authors never tried a single one of their experiments. They should at least recommend distilled water because tap water impurities vary greatly from place to place.

The V in that equation is for voltage drop along the cable, though, not total system voltage relative to ground. And that voltage drop is proportional to total system current, but not total system voltage.
