TLDR: You do almost the same thing in the USA, only it is automated. We have the patriot act which requires collecting a lot of info-- the US has centralized databases (namely credit reports) that allow easy authentication of people. Outs

Unquestionably, Apple has the top people on their development tools. It is a far superior platform for development, and this goes all the way back to the NeXT days. Further, its astounding the amount of fear mongering I've seen from securi

The Mac had viruses in the late 1980s. I know they existed as early as 1987, and as late as 1989, from first hand experience. Do you think that the Mac was a major force in the 1980s, but has been safe in obscurity since then? Apple has bee

False, and has been false for at least 4 years. This vulnerability was unexpected and resolved in the next release of the OS, which allowed this memory to be kept encrypted.

While Microsoft was just starting to develop C#, Apple already had buffer overflow detection (of some type) in Objective-C. Objective-C has long had a garbage collected version and memory management even before then was superior to most lan

Microsoft has real security problems- rampant viruses and trojans, and a major business on that platform is selling after market security products (probably why Microsoft has never closed these holes.) Apple killed the virus problem of the

I think the point you bring up about comparing the ops/sec between Riak and Redis is very interesting in multiple ways: 1. Riak has an in memory database mode (its one of the backends you might choose and you can run multiple backends simul

MacBook Pro, 8GB, leave it running for weeks: No performance problems at all. People say "Get and SSD", well, I've had 2 SSDs and 4 SSD failures (one drive failed three times, the other once and its replacement is still going.) So, I'm all

This claimed problem is not adequately described-- because I don't see it. Therefore there is something else going on here. I have 8 GB of memory on my Macbook Pro, and I've never seen anything like the problems described in this article.

There's a persistent myth that needs to be put down: It doesn't get at all harder to learn new technologies when you get older. In fact, it gets a whole lot easier. There's an old saying "You can't teach an old dog new tricks", and this is

People have gotten rich doing all of those. For instance, the head of the Red Cross makes a lot of money. So do the leaders at United Way. Further, many of these organizations arguably don't improve society. For instance, the Red Cross m
