You could re-implement erlang in C++, but then you'd end up with erlang again. Why not just use erlang in the first place? I don't believe it is possible to do real concurrency on the JVM, without rewriting key parts of the JVM.

That wouldn't really work. You can't just bolt on concurrency support. IF you spend about 2 weeks working on erlang, it becomes really easy to use. The learning curve is not nearly as steep as it appears-- its just that the syntax initiall

All you really need is Apple's developer tools and tutorials. They have a wealth of example apps and free books to download. You can also get WWDC videos from recent years, also free, if you have a free ADC account. This is how I learne

I've worked for a lot of startups and observed two primary causes of startup death: 1. VCs forced bad decisions on the startup. 2. Founders fought, resulting in bad decisions. I think co-founders are an improvement over single-founder, but

My perspective might be in a minority, because I'm an autodidact. I did go to college- and studied Physics. But it has never hurt me in getting a programming job -- in fact, I have always simply ignored any requirements listed in job list

New MacBook Pro models are coming soon. At the very least, Apple will likely release new models with Ivy Bridge CPUs sometime between now and mid-summer. Further, there's long been rumors that Apple was re-working the entire "Pro" line to

This whole affair has been pretty terrible. But what makes it so profoundly tragic to me is-- I see no reason to believe that anyone involved will learn a lesson. That anyone will be punished, or that the US government won't continue to e

Skeumorphism is what makes the iPad the iPad. Instead of being a computer with its own paradigm that you have to learn , the iPad is a blank slate that changes itself with each app. And by using Skeumorphism, Apple makes it immediately o

Camera's are not the same as reality. They take images at a certain number of frames per second. 24, 30 or 60 are common frame rates for digital cameras. Thus, the camera is effectively its own strobe. Since the frequency in the speaker

When it comes to cinema, optical fundamentals are the most important for getting high production value from an indie budget. That means lenses of course, but this is a camera we're talking about, which means sensor size has a huge impact.
