It is a real shame there isn't an association of independant app developers that applied for the .app TLD. I am dubious about Amazon or Google owning it, as they may restrict it only to apps that are in their respective stores.

I read recently that the Mac Pro accounts for less than %2 of Apple's Mac sales. Since thunderbolt basically is a PCI express cable, there's nothing to stop people from building external cases that can hold PCI express cards, like the Mac P

I think you're misunderstanding. Of your examples, all of them use stock widgets, except for the last two. In the last two they replaced stock controls with custom ones, even where they didn't have to, and that supports your hypothesis. Bu

Its really hard to comment on Hacker News without getting a reply from you where dishonestly exaggerate what I have said to try and impunge me. (which is, frankly, ad hominem) The fact of the matter is that "Goldman" had replaced "Soloman"

I read the speech. I also read Liars Poker. I knew Lewis had worked at Soloman Brothers, but somehow in the years since I read the book "Goldman" replaced "Soloman" in my head. So this is a typo. Of course that I named a different firm (

An IPO is a sale of stock. When selling any product there may be a guaranteed audience (e.g.: institutional investors) but groupon (and Facebook) both have the advantage that millions of regular consumers are aware of them. Thus, the avera

In fact, how bad they are doing would be an asset-- "We're running as big a loss as we can so we can grow as fast as we can!" -- I think Amazon is still using that line. (though they are growing fast.)

AAPL can generally be bought for under a 14 PE these days. An equivalent FB price would be $4.37. FB profit growth over the next decade may be much bigger than Apple's, but I have a lot more uncertainty about what it will be, so its hard
