GPL3 closes what was considered a loophole, where device makers would ship a product derived from GPL’d code, and release the source, but provide no ability for users to actually compile and run that source on the device (this was called “t

The creators you’re paying on Patreon aren’t hosting their own videos though, YouTube is. Hosting videos isn’t cheap, who should cover that cost? I get that YouTube doesn’t give enough of a percentage of profits to the creator, but the alte

Disabling sendfile in nginx makes it take 170ms instead of 150ms on my system. Because nginx knows to tune the buffer sizes properly, which goes a long way. Using strace reveals what’s happening, rocket is reading and writing to file descri

Fun experiment, try and benchmark a simple file download on a simple web server using rocket.rs (which also uses tokio and hyper, and has a built in fileserver type, so just a few lines of code) and compare it to a vanilla nginx config. Her

To add to this, YouTube Kids is an entirely different beast altogether depending on if it’s on a touch screen your kid can control, vs on a TV where you have the remote. I feel a lot of people talk terribly about YouTube Kids because they

It’s not factorial, that’d be ludicrous… Rather it’s (n * (n+1))/2, which is similar to factorial but using addition instead of multiplication.(52+51+…+1) So a lot, lot smaller.
