I think that is a pretty normal OSS situation though; there's a fairly small overlap between who care enough to play in the arms race for Tiktok videos and people who want to spend their time updating youtube-dl. Other sites were regul

I feel like a time delay would help with this too. If it takes an extra 24 hours and you get notifications by SMS and email during that period with the chance to call "fraud" it stops most of these attacks which take control of e-

Me too, I used CP/M on an Amstrad CPC 6128. It was the only environment I could find compilers and an assembler for, along with a book in a local library. It ended up teaching me Z80 assembler, but with Motorola style syntax! I remembe

If it anything like C#, .shuffled needs to return a new object and has some expense incurred to achieve, so is a function/method, but .first is immediately available, requires only a trivial amount of calculation and does not return a

In my experience tc is only designed to work in one direction, so I had to use a separate VM, place that machine between the test host and the rest of the network, then enable TC on both interfaces.

I used tc on a Linux VM between two hosts to simulate loss, latency and bandwidth limits. Two interfaces, I think TC only works in one direction per interface so you have to enable it on both interfaces to get delay in both directions. See

Yes, it would be so great if there could be a standard for dates formatted this way. It would have to be called something awesome like ISO 8601! ;-) That is definitely also my preferred format, everything just sorts naturally then. Not so i

For me the whole point of having a keyboard with physical keys is that I do not have to look down from the screen! Placing contextual controls down there seems at odds with the whole idea of the keyboard and trackpad being usable without th

We used to make directories with just the character 255 (a hard space) as the filename. It would totally mess up File Manager in Win 3.1 (the tree would collapse when you touched the entry) and behaved very oddly in Win95/98 if I remem

I believe the GC changed massively in both 4.0 and 4.5, although 4.0 is definitely mentioned in the book.

This would be great if they implement an SSH server, but I'm guessing the shell it connects to is PowerShell, rather than a sh derivative, so many tools many not work with it?

This is their chosen strategy though, that as of Windows 10 there will no longer be full major Windows versions. Instead it will be an ongoing rolling release of incremental changes. From a developer perspective, this sounds like a support

Not to sit around speculating about how something may work or what may be faster when a test case can be built that quickly proves which works or is faster.

Hmm, I'm not so sure I appreciate the Chocolately support. I've found the packages really spotty as to where they are going to install, what options they are going to use, whether they bother to provide an uninstaller. I think a l

I think it is because the rods are inside the sealed reactor core, it's all radioactive. There's no way of opening them up in a way that would allow replacement of the rods.
