Although I didn't know it by that name, I have seen the bicyclic semigroup in competitive programming many times before (usually any problem involving intervals/brackets and segment trees). For example in this problem https:/

There were a few interesting ideas by others in the original comment thread. Mostly on how to compress the sdp so you can get away with just one large QR code without flashing (for example by presharing a dictionary or stripping the sdp dow

Did you happen to see my post on this? https://franklinta.com/2014/10/19/serverless-webrtc-using-qr... (The demo unfortunately doesn't work anymore since it's from 2014) The flow is very similar to

The answer is surprisingly yes! It's usually called equational reasoning or Bird–Meertens formalism. Transforming an insertion sort into merge sort is covered in Section 5 of "FUNCTIONAL PEARLS The Third Homomorphism Theorem"

It's pretty hard to fully protect in the first place because someone desperate enough can always inpaint (aka content-aware fill) over the watermark. Project Naptha has a pretty nice web demo showing how well that works for erasing tex

Great post! Just curious, why didn't you include emscripten (C/C++) in your comparisons?

I have previously written about how to predict the next Math.random in Java (and hence Firefox also): http://franklinta.com/2014/08/31/predicting-the-next-math-ra... The TL;DR; is that it is easy since you on

The math for working out the transform is actually the same (not an inverse!) since you are still just trying to map 4 points to 4 points. I had a demo for the 'inverse' transform also: http://codepen.io/fta/p

Being able to scan barcodes using a web app is pretty cool. I used something similar when I was tinkering with transmitting data visually for the handshake step of webrtc: http://franklinta.com/2014/10/19/serv
