If you are fighting for your rights on Facebook, you are going to be disappointed and you are very, painfully niave about how walled gardens operate.

I can say from first hand experience that Just about everyone I know in Japan is an A+ student by American standards. That goes for the chief of an aerospace subcontractor right down to the kid behind the counter at 7-11. You might think I&

And vice versa. Using movie stars in TV ads is the new new in America, but is old hat in Japan. Tommy Lee Jones, Arnold, Bruce Willis and Scarlett Johansson are the only ones that I can recall in the past few years here.

I had the same thought. Hardly a day goes by that I don't have a jingle stuck in my head from Japanese TV.

one thing I've noticed is that Japanese people have no problem with bulky phone cases. I personally hate them, but almost everyone here uses the kind with a flip cover card holder. Also, I saw the handbag you refer to yesterday and tho

NYC used to have tap payments for Citibank customers. It was a pilot about 5 or more years ago, IIRC. I used it until they took it away.

It sounds like the judge was more annoyed that the defendant didn't answer, and any use of this case as precedent would have to take that into account.

For a guy who opines all day about Apple, the fact that he can't maintain a pretty simple iOS app is telling. If you really care about the app and your users, you read the damn docs and get to work. I taught myself in less than six mon

The quote in the article is hyperbole. It's not unlike fans of *NSYNC or whatever other boy band you might know--there are super fans who indulge in the drama. Also, television personalities in Japan begin to feel like part of the fam

What if they were Buddhists or Hindus? Notice that I didn't name every religion? The response to my post (currently -4) is the same belligerence and myopia that I referred to in that post. It's incredible that I can post a messag

Apple could easily have agreed to an acquisition in the 1990s. It takes true serious chutzpah and goodwill to nose up from a failing product line.

At this point, can anyone take The New York Times seriously about health advice? Someone should compile their history of publishing thinly-sourced, pop science conclusions that are openly contradictory.

I have a lot of "mad science" projects, but only to help me make my work easier. I would never try to turn any of my work into products for sale. Selling tech to lawyers and law firms is a good way to make yourself completely mise

That's the right idea. It's a take-it-or-leave-it proposition. I think what's more interesting than policing Terms of Service changes is making the terms interactive, and attaching pricing to terms that are more consumer-frie

That's more or less true in America, too. Consumer contracts are generally subject to the "unconscionability" test: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconscionability#United_State... . It's not the same
