I'm fairly sure any app that declares the Internet capability will be flagged as requiring a privacy policy.

One of the better "Metro" frameworks is Metro Bootstrap, simply a Metro skin over Bootstrap rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. http://talkslab.github.com/metro-bootstrap/index.html

The great thing is that with the Start Screen the first scenario still works and anecdotally is faster for me than the Windows 7 Start Menu.

It's certainly looking more "metro" than Chrome attempt so far. I kinda like that it's a bit of a fusion of both, still keeping some elements identifiable as Firefox.

I believe a lot of the teams were jumping on Git for source control before Codeplex had Git support. A little awkward in that stuff is split, but still awesome to seem more stuff like this.

Installing Metro apps from the Store then sure it's metro. Installing a desktop app doesn't go through metro at all. You can change the default apps, just like you always have to not use Metro apps. The Start Screen works just like the Star

The biggest problem I had with OAuth 1 was that if you messed up anything chances are all you got back from the server was "Signature Invalid". You're then stuck trying to find out where you had gone wrong with no guidance. The last time wa

That's untrue, desktop apps can (and already have) been listed in the Windows Store. They're essentially links out to your website where you'd need to handle your own payment and downloads, but you'd have a presence and show up in search re

Yes and no, the approach I've used in MVC (.Net) is passing View Models to the View (rather than pure models). That means you can push some of the "tell" into the view model rather than having that logic in the view itself. I haven't done a

I've been using Windows 8 has my main development machine since the start of April (developing Metro style apps). I also found the jump between Metro and Desktop initially jarring but I've gotten used to it now and it feels less unnatural.

Given that there were about four or five posts on the front page about the changes to the express version changes it would that a lot of people care. I'm glad Microsoft listened to people on this one.

Agreed, the title feels very "link baitish", the text of the email sent out says they're changing the names of the Azure services in the usage reports. IMO this makes sense, if I'm receiving an Azure Usage Report I don't need to see a line

It's certainly becoming more impressive, though I think the network effect of Dropbox will certainly help them along. Having the built in Office apps in Skydrive and the ability to have the same word doc available on every computer as well

The Windows 8 store isn't even open for developer submission yet, seems a little early to compare size or quality. I imagine once we see a Release Candidate and the store open it will be a different story, but still far too early. Here's a

I think this is exacerbated by the various levels of tax in the US, because not everyone knows which taxes apply it makes it difficult to compare prices objectively. In NZ GST is always 15% and always included but because everyone knows thi

Agreed, the biggest issue highlighted in the new Lumia 900 views (which most are calling a fantastic phone) is missing some of the key apps in the ecosystem. I don't think the size of the marketplace is the problem, every user has about ten

I've had the complete opposite experience, approval of new apps and updates have all being quick and pain free. A couple of times when there's been a failure in approval I've had really good documentation around what needed to be done.

Trouble with cats is they often destroy bird populations as well, not sure how much of a problem this is in Australia, but in New Zealand feral cats are up there with pests that need to wiped off any island that is to be rehabilitated. The
