Lots of people have asked "Why not Nginx? Why not thttpd?" ... but if all you want to host is static files, why not AWS S3 or similar CDN?

This is odd, because every time I've been in a building when a fire alarm went off, people by and large got up and got out. Okay, so they generally brought their coffee with them, and sometimes their laptops. Maybe it was because the

Sure, but in practice, starting each sentence on a new line isn't difficult and works great with standard 'diff'. I actually quite like it for proofreading, since fragments and run-on sentences jump out at you.

Yep, brilliant for 5 year olds and the "Pocket Edition" tablet interface is a lot easier for young kids to handle than the mouse-keyboard version on the PC. Plus the world is smaller, which makes it a lot harder to get hopelessly lost. PS:

Dark chocolate perhaps? FWIW I think the best thing about the existence of blogs is learning from others' successes and mistakes. The stories of the successes sometimes come off as self-indulgent, the stories of the mistakes sometimes come

Agreed re: minecraft, which is fantastic, but Plants vs. Zombies is actually a really good game too. I like to think of the planting sunflowers mechanic as the kids' first introduction to compound interest. If the kids are really excited a

Portal worked great on Wine / Linux for me right up to (what I think is) the last level, when the frame rate suddenly plummeted to barely playable. Now it's out for native Linux I'll have to see if the same thing happens.

Read the actual rules in the graphic in the article. The "knives" they are talking about are the tiniest little scrapers, first class cutlery would be more dangerous. For example, the Leatherman Wave is too long (by 7mm) too broad (by 1mm)
