If I saw the unchecked checkbox without a nearby checked one for comparison, I don't think I would know what it is. The solid fill strays a little too much from the paradigm. Other than that, beautiful design.

Looking through the responses here, I'm hopeful that someone will launch a "Sysacademy" variant for system administration training. There are tutorials scattered around the web, but (at least for those of us who don't know where to look), t

I was in the Army in the mid-80's, when most of the NCO's and officers were Vietnam vets. The critical importance of keeping your weapon clean was stressed because the M16 was prone to jam. The vets said the AK-47, on the other hand, could

I read it the other way. I read it as meaning that you have to achieve a large user base for the app to be beyond ramen successful. You say a million users that that's a piece of cake. I took it to mean that was the depressing part of the e

Flagged. Maybe I just need to wake up, drink some coffee, and not be so cranky. But I'm getting really fed up with these linked pieces that are nothing more than a thin veneer over some other publication's / writer's article.

The problem with Buy.com is that "buy" is a word (or call to action), not a brand. I've probably seen the buy.com URL around here or there, but the word is so pedestrian, it doesn't ring any bells.

For anyone hardware inclined, if there is an industry that needs to be disrupted it's the hearing aid industry. My dad had to get a new set, and I couldn't believe how much prescription hearing aids are. And the non-prescription are junk. M

Aside: WebKit may be the jQuery of browser engines, but Firefox with NoScript makes browsing media sites far less annoying. And with all the external script calls, they load faster and use less system resources as well. I read a recent Phon

Curious about the CPU usage of canvas apps on older systems, I ran this in FF and Chrome. (I'd classify the system I'm on at the moment as a mid-tier business PC from 2008.) FF maintained a CPU usage mostly in the 33-40% range and Chrome in

I agree with you, and so does Google image search for UI+slider. This is what a "slider" UI widget is in my book: http://jqueryui.com/slider/ BTW, real sliders can suck, too, if they don't offer a textbox where you can type in the value.
