Per month on a regular basis? No. Cumulative? Yes. Both of my recent iOS apps reached 1k+ in their launch month, and average at least $1k every 1-2 months.

Why would you ever rent your place, important valuables inside the property, without being home? I can understand leaving the place empty of valuables and renting it remotely, but to rent your primary residence while you are away is incredi

I'm with you, but I'm not so sure that it's not that people aren't good, but that the human race is inherently selfish, and many of the good ones are afraid of conflict.

In all of the times I've hired employees or freelancers, I've only asked them to work overtime once, and that was three weeks before Christmas when we were behind schedule, based on their own timelines. In the end, it still caused friction,

Maybe his comment wasn't perfect, but there is a good point buried inside of it. I'm not a big privacy freak, but let's call it what it is.

I choose to live in the US, and again, this is not a problem if you choose your job properly.

That's the problem - you see the employer as a bad guy taking away someone's sleep, but the employee has a choice no? Are you going to argue next that having a job, with perfect hours and perfect pay, is also a right?

Comparing this to getting shot is a little dramatic don't you think? Again, I'll go to my original point, which is that if you don't like the hours your employer has asked you to work in exchange for the salary that they are paying, then fi

I don't think it's wrong to go public, but going to the department of labor seems backwards. I'm not familiar with the laws there, but I don't see how this could be regulated outside of a collectively bargained union contract? Edit: I'd lik

It depends on how skilled you are. If I were young, had little debt, and no responsibility, I would go to college, have a blast, and build something on nights and weekends. You have plenty of time, enjoy it.

There are two options here: 1. Keep working, and stop crying about it. 2. Quit Yeah it sucks, but as someone who worked these kind of hours in the military, without the ability to quit, I don't feel any sympathy. You empower your employer t

I don't think the boot version contains the full download. I'm guessing it contains just enough to start the restore.

This is slick, my only problem with it is that Lion is a huge download. It's bad enough waiting on fresh OS installs, but waiting on a download and install would knock the wind out of my sails. I'll be buying the USB stick.

Gosh, I seem to remember brand new Airs being released recently (at which point I bought an 11"). Hasn't it only been since last Fall that they've refreshed the lineup?

That was the same for me until social media came along and I was able to talk with authors I liked. Either way, I'm not sure going to a bookstore and buying a book says anything about culture other than people are used to buying things so t

That's ludicrous. Perhaps people make decisions based on values instead? For example: I don't make 250k/year, but I'm opposed to increasing the taxes of that income bracket. Perhaps a true value driven person sees taxes not as a way to get

Or conversely, we want to support the author by buying their book. If anything, the library lends to the entitlement mentality, not the bookstore.

I disagree completely. Businesses do this every day, and many hackers here, especially those learning to code, fake it until they make it, learning on the fly. I'm not saying education is useless, but it's amazing how quickly you can learn

Sure, but they want the paper, so students figure out the most efficient way to get the paper. The fix isn't to catch cheaters, but to stop valuing the damn paper so much.

I recently left a job I had just started, because a much better offer came around and I simply couldn't pass it up. I offered to keep working from home during the evenings and weekends (most of my work was done remotely) until a replacement
