The difference for me is that in our community, people should know better, especially if you're good enough to get into YC.

Not really. I can enforce my own standards, but it doesn't mean everyone will enforce them on their own. This is relevant when sharing food, for instance.

I have seen far too many people leave the restroom without washing their hands, and when not sharing food, I prefer utensils because it's easier to stay clean.

So here's a question from someone getting ready to raise an Angel round. Do investors help bring groups together in this fashion, or am I reading into it too much? I'm not saying that to judge, I truly want to know. When you say well timed

Here's a quick list: http://teamtreehouse.com http://tryruby.org which I believe is an extension of http://codeschool.com http://learncodethehardway.com Then of course there are sites like Peepcode, Udemy, and a host of others that

My point is not that the product is bad, but that there are many products just as good, hitting the same demo. I'm sure the team is great and the investors are great, but let's be honest, the product is fairly light right now. The UI is nif

Wow, these guys have had incredible success in the press, almost as if they were first to market. Since they aren't, and there are many sites doing things like this already, I wonder what the secret is. Is it their investors? Is it the name

I've wondered that myself. I think the guilt is derived not from leaving them high and dry, but in leaving unsolved problems. I'm competitive and a perfectionist, and I take it as a personal challenge to solve them.

Kickstarter is awesome. It helped bring light to this newly born industry in a way never been done before, and it's been responsible for scores of people being able to raise money to build really incredible things. But then you have the peo

That's exactly it - many 'minimalists' I know live just like this, but never have any money, always need a place to stay or a ride, never want to chip in at the nice restaurants because of point #1, and make it extremely uncomfortable for t

The M4 is accurate, but lacks the power of something like an AK-47, which hits harder and has a larger round. It's great for clearing a room or working in tight spaces, but it's not nearly the same as this. Additionally, they are working VE

That's not entirely true. There are still plenty of gunfights and ambushes being staged in Afghanistan, especially outside of the major cities.

I think the reality is that most people just don't care much about going to the gym. There is a real societal pressure to feel obligated to 'get fit,' but that's not enough to create behavioral change, and it shouldn't be.

You can't put a value on status. How do you propose they enforce it? Furthermore, what's to stop me from sewing a Levi's tag on a pair of Wal-Mart jeans? There are bigger fish to fry, let the free market run its course.

That's what they're trying to do, but by forcing the users to adapt rather than adapting on the product side. Certainly doesn't feel like a user-centric approach.
