Can someone please explain to me why PBR is so popular in SF? I really want to know. How did it become trendy to drink bottom-rung beer?

I'm curious, what made you go with Lockitron's model? We've been working very hard on our cf product - IgnitionDeck, and would love to get into your head about how/why you chose that over other solutions.

Whether or not the premise is true, can't we stop abusing the death of Steve Jobs to generate page views?

They are certainly great at self-promotion, I'll give them that.

Yes, many providers allow that (Stripe, Amazon, even Paypal)

I don't like it either. Perhaps there is room for someone to build an aggregation engine?

I suppose you're right. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. For years, they wouldn't fund or write about anything that wasn't a me-too product, and now he complains that there's nothing but me-too products. Thanks for finally waking up Michael

Most people try to counter this by deleting all photos and comments, but still, if what you're suggesting is the reality, then it's only a half-measure.

As a software dev currently thinking through my 'next thing,' I find this opinion refreshing. There's a lot of redundant and me-too software and it's far too easy to fall into the trap of building another mobile/social/geo/photo app. I thin

Have you tried sponsoring podcasts? I'm really intrigued by that model, but don't (yet) have the funds to advertise on a TWiSt or 5by5.

I tend to agree, and it's not because of the info products themselves, but because it appears to be so calculated. Nobody wants to see themselves as the target of a sales funnel. It's also slightly contradictory with the hacker culture, whe

I disagree with the premise. Sure, you can increase spending and get hooked to a salary, or you could just learn how to make more and have more.

I think you missed the point of the article. You are the exception, not the rule because you became an iOS developer. I inferred that the article was referencing art majors that don't teach themselves how to code.

This mirrors my experience. Hell, I came out of college with a B.S. in Psychology and my job options were very limited until after I left the Army. I gained more from that than I did with my college degree. I ended up becoming a software en

But that's easy money. Take that easy money, and in your spare time, build something you can sell, be it a theme or passion product. Soon the client work is icing on the cake, and you can take it or leave it.

I agree, I don't want them using my card at all. I fund them with gift certificates instead. I've tried the two iTunes accounts thing, and it became a big problem when syncing or downloading updates.

Except now any time they want to download something, they'll need your password. In the end, I just ended up giving my kids their own accounts across the board.

They can clearly delineate between team and personal accounts, force team storage to certain directories, and/or not allow users to manage team/personal accounts with the same login.

This is the first torrent I downloaded in probably 5 years, and I did so because the movie isn't released yet. I agree with the parent.

What an interesting story. Project goes awry and recovers by using the refund story to build interest for new venture. Apple sees hand and raises. Users throw down 4 aces and collect giant pot of cash. Sounds like wins for everyone.

They know and they don't care. It's not a customer's prerogative to worry about how a company makes money. As much as people like Instagram, if it disappeared or went under, people would move on and forget about it. I would say that the on

I don't think users feel that way. What they want is to be acknowledged and respected for helping build the server to what it is today. No users = no service. Don't sell us out just because you chose to take money and sell for a cool bil.

A pistol is no more an assault weapon than a knife. There are far more dangerous types of guns than a 9mm pistol. I'm a gun owner, former Army, and gun rights advocate, but I'm not crazy, and I do recognize the need for change. I just want
