Yeah, same thing happened in New York. All these people moved in without any respect for what NYC is really about -- Dutch farming.

I've had a similar experience. I spent a few weeks hacking with a team to discover what was killing their productivity and it all came down to the early decision to adopt micro-frontends. The only place I can imagine this working is at

I think it's important to note that master has no relation to master/slave. It's master as in master copy or master key.

Yes, usually the employer you leave will pay your salary and the firm you're joining will compensate for the bonus you're forfeiting.

They do this in finanance, New York has relatively enforceable non-competes. Typically they'll pay you your full salary for the period of time you're not working.

I would have longed for the privilege of testing into a good highschool when I was young -- let alone some of the best schools in the country. It makes me a little sad to see the call for the system be dismantled.

Is Palantir buying the data or is the NHS using Palantir to analyze it? There's a big difference there.

Palantir already works with a a huge number government agencies is my point. They're basically a contracting firm. If they had charged the NHS at least a few hundred thousand pounds it wouldn't have been newsworthy.

From my understanding Foundry (the Palantir product in question) is just a data management platform. I don't understand why this is so nefarious: they gave software they usually charge for to a public health agency for free.

If you're just wanting to get your feet wet create-react-app is the right choice. Go strictly by their docs: they do a good job of leading you to third-party solutions when required. In a way React suffers from it's own popularity

Just like to chime in and say I'm really appreciative of these efforts. I get devs at my firm who are learning to do web dev for the first time and ask why we're not using Redux by default. I link them to Dan's article and th

This feels really weird. I don't think it's a good idea for open source organizations to be political like this. I think getting more diversity of contributors to Node is a laudable goal but I don't see why those efforts can&

Do the cell values have to be primitives? Embedding pure JS inside a React app is easy but using React inside pure JS is usually where the trouble is.

Agreed. I'm hoping JSX (or another JS-first approach) becomes the de-facto standard for frameworks. Svelte seem interesting but giving up JSX is too much to ask. A framework like Svelte that "compiles away" the JSX would be w

I hear this a lot and it's really missing the forest for the trees. Picking a routing library (if you need one) requires 10 minutes of googling. Picking Ember/Angular will haunt you for the lifetime of your project.
