Like most drugs, finding and sticking to the right dose is made more difficult by ever-increasing tolerance. I'm not saying there's no way around the insomnia problem with proper planning and self-control, but for me the easiest s

Modafinil had only major flaw in my experience, but it was significant enough for me to stop taking it; it made it very difficult to stick to a 24-hour circadian rhythm. To illustrate, if I got a full night sleep, then took modafinil, I wou

One minor advantage is that you can import the type on its own. If an external app just needs the types, it can import them without affecting its bundle at all.

Agreed. The latest remaster of Let It Be ALMOST sounds like it could have been recorded today. Conversely, I think a lot Adele's ALMOST sounds like it could be from the 70's

Some degree of vocal tuning is probably ubiquitous, but the extreme T-Pain/Cher effect is definitely not ubiquitous or even that common anymore. Who are the biggest artists today? Off the top of my head: Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Adel

For what it's worth, I think the current wave of modern pop is much more interesting-sounding than 80's hair metal or the pop from the earlier 2000's that was autotuned ad nauseum. For example, look at the current top of the

I love classic rock, but it's hard to argue that it is musically more complex than modern pop. Also if musical complexity was the same as merit then we would all just be listening to jazz and classical

In addition to all these good points, I was surprised a couple other issues weren't discussed at all in the article. - Playing live shows is a huge part of how bands and artists grow their following and get discovered. COVID has had a

It's not slightly better if you are trying to determine causation. I'm not sure what you think "correlation does not equal causation" means if you think this is the case.

I'm not sure what story you think I'm trying to tell. My main point was that anecdotal data can be valuable when the empirical data doesn't tell the whole story. I agree with your point about the doctor. It's a good po

Sure, but would you prefer to have your house or to not have your house? Selling your house for free (or more realistically, way under market value) would not have as much friction.

Worship implies an extreme degree of fascination if not used literally in a religious sense. To say someone "worships" a celebrity suggests that person acts similarly to how they would act if that person was a deity.

I actually think there is an interesting and nuanced conversation to be had on what fundamentally is different between an NFT and a baseball card. But that doesn't seem to be the conversation anyone is having.
