I’ve got an interview coming up for a senior role on a UX engineering team (design system, component libraries, etc). The interview is just the standard set of backend system design and leetcode problems. It’s a pretty big red flag to me th

It's ironic because you would think companies would want engineers who actually are eager to work there. When connecting to companies through recruiters, you're expected to still come up with some semi-BS about why you're so

I was laid off in June. This coincided with my mom being diagnosed with cancer, and because I had a fair amount of saving, I took some time to support family and work on some personal projects. I started looking again at the start of this y

I’m in the same boat with roughly the same experience. The job market for engineers is night-and-day worse than it was a couple years ago. Back then everyone was hiring; now most companies have frozen hiring or are laying people off. The mo

I would actually expect most married men to have less frequent ejaculations. I'm not married myself, but my impression is that most couples don't keep up a daily sexual routine for several decades, and finding time and space to se

I can't imagine anyone accidentally naming their variables $tit and $ass and not realizing it. I expect the guy thought it was funny, and the domain gave him some plausible deniability.

Engineering types often prefer to think in hard rules…either an approach is absolutely better or absolutely worse. Saying medium-size services are best means that the engineer needs to use their judgment to determine where that threshold is

I think it likely started with a small mistake, not necessarily an innocent one but maybe one that was assumed to be low-risk. And like in the Fargo movie/show, Sam just kept digging the hole deeper trying to get out of it. This expla

I agree, and IDK why it is so hard to talk clearly about finance. Here is how I understand what's been said (not an expert): When a bank pays a loan out to its lender, it must have capital (valuable assets actually owned by the bank)
