Going to watch the video now. Thank you for the explanation! Graphics isn't my primary field so admittedly I don't know what I'm talking about. One thing I love about SpaceX is how engineers are allowed to do talks like this,

Oh man I'm excited to read the replies to this thread. I'm working on my own 2D language right now as a layer above JS. Let me know if you'd be interested to beta test! I have a sense that the programming community at large w

Use SD cards. You can fit probably a petabyte of information in a typical storage cabinet. If the environment is controlled, I don't think you'd run into problems with data corruption or being unable to read data. And to hedge aga

The problem is that SpaceX has stakeholders involved in national security, so they have to be hard on rule-breakers as a matter of principle. Sure, this guy meant no harm, but if it becomes clear that any random idiot can jump a fence and g

Who is really running the show here if you defer every decision to your lawyer instead of your own common sense? You let this guy ruin that kid's life, and paid him for the privilege?

I think manual review might actually be the worst way to solve this problem, because you're relying on human labor to fix every single hiccup, which ruins the point of an automated system anyways. I think for sure they run the route th

This is what I do for my home-grown apps. I write as much as I can in JS, and then provide a localhost API to access native operations like notifications or file management. I have one always-on background server that lets me execute arbitr

I don't know if you can even access the screen at such a low level on iOS, I think for sure you'll have to go through a middleman to get pixels on the screen.

I feel like this is an impossible assumption to make. DIY email hosting is a massive PITA, there's an extremely small chance it gets easier as your in/out data transfer gets higher.

Password strength requirements are an anti-pattern: they force users to pick passwords from a pre-determined list the algorithm comes up with, rather than passwords they can remember. Even with the most secure password, it is still useful t

It's interesting the focus this article places on relational databases. The author insists that Salesforce must run on top of Oracle, or Postgres. The notion that any modern company wouldn't be using SQL somewhere in their daily

Before I reply, I want to recognize that as the actual licensed engineer, you have more of a say in this than I do, a non licensed software developer, regardless I would like to continue the conversation to better understand why I am wrong.

This is a great point. The IoT subscription model can be avoided by using a more traditional rental model. I don't think anyone would have qualms over financing plans about this, but the IoT angle makes it more controversial.
