Yea, Apple has great build quality. I have a 2013 HP Envy 17 that's also survived because of the ability to replace (keyboard, battery 2x, SSD). Its chassis has unfortunately started collapsing, but I want to fix it and donate it to a

How about the RAM? I'm assuming that you got 16GB? I thought 8GB would be barely usable for me, but I've been pleasantly surprised. I still use my desktop for heavy enough work, but 8GB is manageable for now.

My wife has a 2012 MBP, which is usable because I upgraded the RAM to 16GB and added an SSD. I had limited experience and use of macOS, but didn't like it much. I bought the Air last month under duress, because I was going to a place t

Whataboutism is a slippery slope. We can't justify action being taken by looking at the times it wasn't taken. What about the idea that the tweet you've linked to was not after a sudden mob of violence was mobilised?

True. Not a great example, but "don't think of an elephant" is a good example of this effect, where someone who otherwise wasn't thinking of elephants, starts thinking of one. The context of the discussion becomes less r

This goes both ways to an extent. Any data that you can model in Mongo, can be modelled in a SQL database. There's often the argument that documents aren't structured, but in many cases, there's structure if you categorise th

I'm playing around trying to create a JIT execution engine for Rust code. I was struggling a bit with the codegen part, so the description of the function structure helped make more sense of what I'm trying to do. Thanks

The final battle was great. One small thing that I wish they did better, was not to butcher the African language that they used. Whenever they spoke, many of us cringed. Small thing though, Chadwick still won our hearts.

Google increased their pricing, I think last year or 2. My website used to be within the free tier, but after the increase, I started paying $100 a month. I ended up spinning up a self-hosted tile server, which I used for new projects unrel

I've been hosting my own tileserver for a while, but because I couldn't build the latest times from OSM, I had to use outdated tiles. I can't remember what I used, but I built a Docker image in the end.

Does it make sense to put quotas on internal services, that I assume are unlikely to be used externally? Is it a security recommendation? I'm curious, as I might learn something from interesting asnwers to the above questions.

But would Apple be content with going from 5nm to 3nm nodes so "quickly"? Given that AMD has been able to squeeze out their Zen 2 and 3 IPC without the need to change nodes completely, it could make sense for Apple to do the same.
