It was strange at first, when everyone got their Apple Watch and started standing up, seemingly at random, in meetings. “Gotta meet my stand goal!” Gonna be really weird when they go tear-assing down the hallway

He told me he didn’t have a lot of confidence in the Sparrow. They eventually got some aircraft with guns but never used them; despite Top Gun school something like 90% Of his flights were ground attack missions.

Somewhat related, my uncle was a “Phantom driver” (F4 Phantom II) in Vietnam. Flew a bunch of missions of varying types. So Top Gun comes out, and my mom points out he had graduated Fighter Weapons School - my uncle is a real Top Gun! So I

They do stuff like this not because they want to kill the web, but because Apple will always do what it thinks is in the best interests of the company and its customers. (Who comes first seems to depend on what the technology in question is

not just that: we've come full circle. At one point, there were a bunch of Java/JVM desktop apps. They were widely disliked/mocked because they were heavyweight, had slow startup time, didn't use platform-standard widget

If you’ve ever wondered why the military has a [extremely Sgt Maj Sixta] grooming standard, this should enlighten. Gas masks don’t seal on beards.

Hardly a hot take but a lot of people seem to think that if code isn't actively being worked it, you can't use it, as if there can never be a point where fewer and fewer bugs are reported and fewer and fewer features are requested

I’ve noticed that Cyberpunk games REALLY lean on the mainframe, “hack the Gibson” model, and it turned out to not be how it all turned out. A few recent cpunk RPGs (Carbon 2185 comes to mind) basically ignore deckers/netrunners. I’ve b

Do you have outstanding issues/bugs/feature requests? I remember using it, like, 15 years ago and it was largely feature-complete and mostly bug free.

I've argued for a while that they need to do, as part of their services push, is a "cloud compile" service. I know they want to sell hordes of Mac Pro boxes to devs, but what a cool way to open up development (like, on the iP
