What qualifies as a business record? Anecdotally from most company policies, it sounds like email qualifies.

I've seen a lot of posts recently on event driven architectures. (ex. [0]) Even Redis is getting a kafkaesque stream data structure [1]. Does anyone know more about the downsides of these systems? I can imagine as they get bigger, ther

Definitely true. It's a balancing act. Granted, that means that some people are going to think you're compromising too much on your ideals (or to little).

Your right on a privacy front from an absolute perspective. But, it's almost certain that Google paid for this change. A stronger Mozilla (financially speaking) is good for privacy and free software. Also, normal users expect Google. S

The same (concerns) can be said of other ways of life though. For example, I live in an area that used to be basically all farmland. Slowly but surely, city people have moved out and crowded out all the farmers. Those new suburbanites voted

This is an interesting idea; it would certainly appeal to Bay Area NIMBYs. They find themselves in essentially the opposite position as what you describe. They are more organized and actually vote, despite being (presumably) vastly outnumbe

I was surprised that this wasn't LGPL, which seems more suited. Granted it's GNU. So, they're going to do it their way.

But, any indexing system you create won't work with the rec* tools. For example, `recsel` will not be any faster on large files. Not sure if they have indexing on the roadmap, but it does make sense to me for people that have adopted i

Like someone else said, this is hosted (but there's a way to run it yourself). But, I don't see any pricing. Is that something they plan on adding later. Or, how do they plan to keep it online over time?

That's an interesting observation. This hasn't been my experience. I think it may partially also just be misunderstanding, though. There are obviously more than just 2 groups of students: those that get it with no studying and tho

Well, it does say "reallyhyped.com" not "reallyused.com". Joking aside, SQLite is on a ton of devices, yes. But that's primarily because it ships with OS's and is in lots of embedded devices. For web developmen

This may be me suffering from Poe's law, but it seems to me that you are demonstrably worse off, even if the restaurant stayed open and you kept your job. Before the min-wage increase you could afford 2 lunch specials and now only 1.87

Do you know what the reasoning would be for business interests to oppose allowing mixed (union/non-union) workplaces? Off the top of my head, I could see entrenched businesses that already have union workers (ie. big auto manufacturers

IMO this is the crux of the argument between anti-union workers and pro-union workers. To benefit all parties, the most obvious solution is to get rid of the rule that requires unions to cover non-union workers. Then everyone can associate

You explained this way better than I did. It's not the configuration that I had issues with. Rather, it's the triggers/rules. I think I even mentioned embedded JS or Lua in some other comment.

The only part that made me comment was the rules definitions. I will gladly write key/value type config in JSON or YAML or whatever. But, writing the rules logic in it would be a big pain, because it is not easy to see what deeply nest

Configuration for this, especially the hook rules definitions, would be better in some DSL rather than JSON. Trying to structure logic as JSON is very hard to read. Edit: if you aren't married to configuration in a file, you could even

This is an awesome way to interface with your calendar. But for me (on Safari 10 on a 2015 MacBook Pro), zooming (via scroll) was too slow (like, 1. do 2 finger scroll on trackpad; 2. wait 3 seconds for it to finish the animation 3. scroll
