I'm going to nitpick. Adroid's strategy is that it's not tied to one brand, one manufacturer, one feature-set, and one network. Time will tell if it is a strength. Apple has not launched an Iphone strategy that is the opposite by chance.

You're right. Something is off here. That seems like moving all the cash from one company to another and letting the first go bankrupt without the latter assuming liability. What stops this happening more often?

If the value a select few brought to a company was > $10m, and this was widely known, they would bid up the price. Of course employers don't have an incentive to pay above market rate, that's almost a tautology. That is what market rate

That is true. The app store does have the distinction of being a market where users, even "consumers" exchange money for software. That is certainly a great feature. That doesn't mean that the market isn't characterised by many projectiles.
