yes absolutely- that system was built a long time ago before the uuid type - you should def not store things in chars (and probably shouldnt use char at all, use text) was saying that even with that poor implementation we still were not hav

The point of UUIDs is that they're inherently unique. You can generate them in the database or in your application, or anywhere. You can move records between databases without worrying about a collision. Its this reason that theyre so
