JAX does JIT compilation which is not done by Cupy so you get better performance by fusing operations and compiling them cleverly ([0] is a good benchmark to get a feeling for the performance of the various options). However, it is a trade-

JAX can be used as a drop-in replacement for numpy but it enables JIT compilation (similarly to numba) and, more important, very efficient GPU compilation. Numba is great for CPU-only code, JAX would be my goto solution to add GPU on top of

Having a macro to convert a Rust-like DSL (with a focus on iterators to replace Futhark's higher order functions) to GPU via a Futhark-like compiler is doable and something I would love to see done. It could be the rayon of GPU computi

I would also recommend Writer on Writing by Peter Clines [0]. He is very practical, which I like, while covering a lot of subjects in a funny and easy to digest way. [0]: http://thoth-amon.blogspot.com/

On random numbers, I found the ideas behind "Parallel Random Numbers: As Easy as 1, 2, 3" [0] (which is implemented in JAX) interesting. Their generator is a mapping between keys and random numbers which get rid of the sequential

It is fast while having the best type inference capacities I ever saw in a programming language: you can spend years in a static language without ever writting a type (my one exception is deserialization which makes sense).

The word "just" in "it just took a reset in conventions" was intended as ironical (but it might not come across clearly in the text). A change of conventions is a large change that is no trivial matter to undertake.

As others have said, I believe the lack of depth in medieval art is much more a matter of conventions than a matter of lack of theory or physical abilities (see [0]). The one thing that convinced me of that is the sudden jump in realism in
