Oversimplifying can be great at times. In this case, the lambda-calculus model (which is the base for this type of "everything is just a function" approach) is a great model of computation because it is so simple, while being easy

Nevermind the cost of the plane, I don't understand how they aren't losing money on the petrol alone. We're talking the price of a full tank on a small car to transport someone from Barcelona to London and back (Even though t

Now I'm wondering what kind of features you end up adding to your website that need server-side code. Comment systems?

Formalism isn't really the problem though. The problem is that it needs to be accompanied with geometrical explanations and intuition (especially for linear algebra). Formalism is here to help you put words on intuition. Intuition with

Weird parallel. If you're on the street it's easier to arrest you. Now if your megaphone is used exclusively to sell drugs and for some reason you cannot be arrested, then it makes sense to confiscate it?

If a court orders twitter to take down a tweet, and twitter doesn't comply, then I believe anybody that is responsible for that inaction, including Elon if he was aware and didn't act may be tried

In relatively hot climates, above 100F is still a pretty reasonable temperature, not something i'd call "extreme". 0F though is crazy cold. Where i live (south-western europe), getting below ~15 F is already considered extrem
