I've been using a related framework called BlueTrip CSS ( http://bluetrip.org/ ) that combines elements of Blueprint, 960 and Hartija print css. It's a very good framework for rapid website prototyping.

Good article. The last paragraph in the article starts with: "Facebook has influenced Microsoft in other ways. Its new operating system, OS 7, features a list of interactions, news, and information that happens to look a lot like Facebook's

I think Adobe realizes this and going forward is going to have to make some changes. They are in the midst of transitioning from a desktop software company to a platform provider (Flash Platform, PDF and Flex) and are still integrating the

Very interesting utility. It's mini-apps like these that make Unix such a powerful and flexible platform. I have to try it out on Ubuntu.

I don't think this is a parody site. The same author created the Hartija print css framework and a few other css frameworks. There is also good documentation and demo code available for the Golden CSS framework. It looks very interesting

I wonder how much of this is in direct response to Adobe's influence on web animation via Flash and if CSS Effects has in some way influenced Apple's decision to avoid putting Flash on the iPhone (beyond some of the current technical issues

Also take a look at Bluetrip ( http://bluetrip.org/ ) it combines features of Blueprint, Tripoli, 960 and Hartija. So you can get a nice CSS website running pretty quickly and then customize from there.

Does anyone know of an equivalent solution in PHP? Since I use the KohanaPHP framework, I assume this could be done in one of the routing routing or pre_controller events. EDIT: found a good approach at: http://stackoverflow.com/questions

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the great advice. It seems that everyone's experience varies in some way -- both positive and negative. I'm going to test drive a friends MacBook for a few days to give it a true test (keyboard mapp

Great objective advice. Perhaps, I should also give Linux another try as well -- it's been almost 3 years since my last Linux desktop experiment.

Overall, there really isn't one specific pain point in particular that I have with Windows. However, OS X seems to offer some enhanced functionality for web development (e.g. UNIX underpinnings, MAC-only development tools). There also seem

I found equivalent apps for everything except TortoiseSVN (Versions or SCPlugin seems like a fit). I would only use the VM for testing on IE and a few Windows-only apps. Keyboard shortcuts are one of my big concerns -- I'm a big Ctrl key u

The OS X UNIX backend is definitely compelling as all of my web apps are hosted on Linux. I was thinking about just switching to Linux, but the Linux desktop just doesn't seem as polished as Mac or Windows. Although, I will be switching my

GM has way too many brands and selection for Apple. Apple could just design and build their own "Apple iCar" -- the only car with one button and a touch screen to control everything. They can sell it outside of select Apple retail stores.

PHP might not be the most elegant in the world, but for a small- to mid-size web application, using a solid PHP5 framework (like KohanaPHP) along with a PHP accelerator and you have an easy-to-use and easy-to-deploy application.
