Great points! The issue of selection bias is very real on many review sites. Especially with the volume of reviews being so low for most products and services.

This does demonstrate the value of third-party "professional" reviews (e.g. Consumer Reports, Zagat) and a big reason why Google bought Zagat -- the trust factor. You never know if personal reviews on various sites were driven by ulterior m

Excellent -- the "Potential users" summary fits me perfectly. Great work on the rfp. If you need any perspectives or feedback from a very new Python user as you move on in the process, feel free to send me a message. I would be more than

Best of luck with the redesign. I recently started learning Python and finally realize what I've been missing for so many years. I'm not sure of the intended audience of python.org (new users vs. experienced), but as a brand new Python use

Interesting. I'm migrating some old PHP apps over to Python and have been learning Flask + SQL Alchemy. Why would a site with so much traffic choose a full stack framework like Django that required so much modification?

That would be my concern as well. Without their brand and following behind the service, it would be hard to sustain it at that level.

Does anyone have experience wrapping a jQuery Mobile web application in native web view? How does the performance of that stack (HTML5, JQM, native WebView) compare to PhoneGap and Titanium. From previous articles, my assumption is that t

With online education really gaining traction, the major university brands need to be out in front of this trend. With Harvard and MIT throwing their names and money into the mix they buy themselves a chance to steer the direction of the t

Excellent! Just bought another 4 books. Now I just have to find some time to read them. I should probably start buying books based on the number of pages -- shorter book wins. I seem to stay better focused on tech books with < 300 pag

I was a Safari subscriber for two years and it was great! However, it felt a bit overwhelming at times to have access to so many books. It brought back memories of spending hours in the computer book section at the bookstore. Now I just b

Does anyone know if LI used any specific Node modules? I'm evaluating Node.js for a project and am trying to get a handle on the thousands of modules available in npm.

Excellent points!! Always keep an eye open towards the advantages and disadvantages of anything new. Don't immediately dismiss something because it is new, just as you wouldn't immediately start using something new. Research and learn.

Thanks for the link. I definitely agree. I've never used Node, but didn't want to dismiss any recommendations without fully researching the technology. Perhaps building the API in Node and leaving the CRUD to our existing server-side stack

Somone is proposing Node.js for a project and I was wondering if the advantages/disadvantages in this article are still current. This is for a web application with lots of CRUD, but will also require a custom JSON API.

Many higher-education open source software utilize a Java / XSLT stack (e.g. JA-SIG uPortal, Sakai) and I agree that XSL can be quite tedious and verbose. It's definitely the type of language that, if you work with it just "once in while",
