The comparisons are pretty striking. Apple really set the standard for smartphone design and it took competitors quite a while to catch up. I have an Android phone and iPad and I think both design approaches have their benefits and drawba

Great points. OS X default window management is definitely lacking in some respects. However, as mentioned by others, you can fill the gaps with a few free and cheap apps (e.g. TotalFinder, TotalSpaces, Moom, Witch, Alfred). Those combin

This is just more evidence that our school system is heading in the wrong direction. With so much emphasis on testing easily measurable subjects, emphasis is moving away from hard to measure, such as creative thinking. I've seen firs

There doesn't seem to be any viable competitors for the combination of GMail + Google Drive. The Drive Apps infrastructure and integration into one account is above and beyond the competition.

I was actually questioning my current design process yesterday while mocking up a landing page in Fireworks. "Why not start the process in HTML using CSS3?" I thought. However, beyond basic layouts, I find it hard to programmati

It's great to see Yahoo! in the news so often. Growing up in the first Internet boom, Yahoo! still holds a place in my heart as my first search engine and homepage. Flickr has been a great asset for Yahoo! but has lost much of its momentum

As a consumer media company Yahoo needs a way to grow it's user base and increase it's reach. My guess is that many of Yahoo's existing users have been loyal to the companies core products (Mail, Finance, Portal, Homepage, etc.) and see no

This is wonderful news! TinkerCAD fits perfectly as a bridge into AutoDesk's 123D family of modeling applications. I wouldn't be surprised to see TinkerCAD integrated with 123D Design in the future. It's also a great way to introduce you

At least FW will still be around and somewhat supported for quite a while. FW is pretty much feature-complete and can continue functioning well into the future.

Not having to think about layers (until they are actually needed) is my favorite core feature of FW. Why couldn't Adobe just add this as an option to PS.

Sketch looks nice, but seems like more of an Illustrator competitor than a Fireworks or PS replacement. Also, how does it handle PSD import. PSD is pretty much the standard for layered image sharing and FW opens PSD's near-perfectly.

It's definitely wishful thinking on my part. The UI in Photoshop would make this difficult. I might just have to switch to Illustrator for more of my layout work since I dislike the bitmap-heavy workflow of PS. Everything besides editing
