I remember switching to Gusto early on in the life of my startup, and how surprised I was to realize that I was excited about payroll software. The UI and UX were 100x better than the stuck-in-the-90s software we were using previously. It m

I recall this plaguing the Secure Scuttlebutt project -- they were signing JSON objects that were encoded however Node saw fit to encode them, which meant that in order to write an alternative implementation of the protocol, you had to enco

We do in fact already make it trivial to remove content from your host. Law enforcement can provide a list of hashes, which you pass as parameters to a CLI command that deletes them.

It's weird to me that there aren't more compile-to-Go languages. The ecosystem of Go packages is great, and the runtime is undergoing continuous refinement by a team of really smart people.

I'm writing a GitHub CI bot specifically for Go. There are so many ways you can improve on existing CI if you integrate deeply with a specific language. You can cache test results for packages whose source code hasn't changed; you

Functional options were exciting when they were first discovered, and they're used in a few popular APIs (e.g. gRPC), but they haven't become as ubiquitous as you'd expect if they were truly superior. My guess is that a stru

The problem in this case is not the looping over each pixel, but the overhead of invoking a dynamic method on each pixel. For example, if you're iterating over a []byte and setting each value to zero, the compiler can optimize that to

Pretty neat. You can see this exact approach in the Go standard library: https://golang.org/src/math/bits/bits.go#L35 Nowadays, of course, ctz gets compiled down to a single instruction (e.g. bsf on x86) :)

Sure, but only because "art" is essentially boundaryless and actively resists attempts to define it. If you stretch the definition far enough, everyone is an artist and everything is an artistic medium.
