Those are good points. I should have clarified, I meant a naive interpretation of free market theory. I'm only a dabbler when it comes to economics, but I think the field of the "theory of the firm" is interesting. And one of

The argument has an emotional resonance, but does it really make sense? It's not like working for big employers (and entrusting Wall Street with one's retirement) worked out really well in the past decade either. Every company is

Postgres is getting there, with JSON columns. You can do hstore if you like key-value, or mix it with plain old SQL tables. This combination works well for me.

Adding to what SEMW said: for all we know, this story could be pure fiction, written by the Preston-Warners themselves, or someone else with a strong incentive to do so. The fact that this story helps everything "make sense" is no

Everyone thinks the message of that movie is "all truth is subjective", but it's not. It's more like "the stories we tell ourselves and others are distorted by our self-image and our interests". At the end, the

The OP's design for it is much nicer. Navigation popups have been around since 2005, and while in some ways better than the OP's design (pictures!) this is useful enough to test it as default behavior. Hover doesn't work on m

Whether or not these points have merit, this media pundit is only replying to other media pundits. Some important nuances are being lost. If there is a way to make this sad story even sadder, it's turning it into a political football.

Tangential question: could this, paradoxically, make Bitcoin a better medium of exchange, even if it becomes a bad speculative investment? Since the IRS is now imposing a capital gains tax, that penalizes speculators. One of the issues with

Fair point but sometimes people don't want their real identity known. Either as a matter of policy or because they are using a throwaway to discuss something sensitive.

What I like about Threadable is that it's both obvious and contrarian. Startup people usually turn their noses up at mere email. Not sexy enough. Except, everyone relies on email, and everyone hates their tools for managing it.
