It's something, sure. But it is still a major fuck up, so them seeing fit to throw us some scraps (for a paid product!) is nothing to appreciate. Maybe I'm reading things into your comment that you didn't mean to say, in whic

Sea water is heavier than fresh water and more corrosive. I don’t think it’s as simple as building the pipes, I imagine the locks themselves would also need to be retrofitted to account for that.

Exactly what I was thinking, a pleb filter filter. Which points to what this snobbery actually boils down to. It’s all a big fat ‘no u’.

I don't mind paying for a service at all; I'll happily switch one service for another every month or few months. The main sticking point the diaspora causes for me is I can't find what I want. Maybe some people subscribe to a

When it comes to games (at least when the box even contains physical media anymore) I want the physical versions so I can sell them or borrow them to friends. I do not have a PlayStation right now, but I do have an account floating around.

I'm not sure that's the case. The first line of the article reads: Is the NSA buying up Americans' location and browsing data? That's what's blocking instatement of a new director, so no, it won't have any effe

I love this creator’s projects and this one is especially beautiful. The proportions and the brass colors really give this thing a wonderful aesthetic. Do yourself a favor and subscribe to the guy, he really has the hacker mindset in my opi

You’re right, the sibling to the comment I responded to mentioned this as well and it gave me flashbacks to emulating an Amiga system to get a multi million dollar industrial system up and running.

I think the corollary to the title (to turn it around on the author) is not 'Code is read more than written' but 'code that can't be read won't run for long'. Disclaimer: Experienced sysadmin trying to make a l

Nowadays I don't trust SaaS and other hip cloud stuff anymore. I learned that lesson with exactly this topic. I was relatively young and naïve and left my ripped and pirated collection behind when Spotify rolled around. Partly because

I miss curating local files and playing them with Winamp (just noticed the red squiggly under that name, god I'm old). The mobile-first streaming interfaces with miles of whitespace and big touch targets annoy the heck out of me. When
