I replaced the TN screen of my x201 with a Boe Hydis AFFS panel with IPS like viewing angles and contrast so I would _not_ remove it from the list. It's a great laptop and you can get them really cheap used (I've never bought a Th

Nice. I've been using a HP30b with the WP34S firmware for a little over a year now. It's a great RPN calculator. I don't use it much, but for the few times that I need a calculator RPN feels just so much better.

Neat. I sold my TI-84 Plus in favor of a HP RPN calculator: It's not really comparable, but there are more open source projects around calculators like the WP34s[1] project which turns a cheap HP business calculator (HP 20b/30b) i

But people and apps often refer to "Linux on Android" while it's nothing but a chroot environment. Android is already running the Linux kernel. Calling it "running Linux on Android" is stupid.

Just the id didn't work, but adding "chrome-extension://fpienblnmnnlojdcknfmeicdefhafako" seems to work. Thanks.

It's not working in chrome 35.0.1916.153. I tried to drag different things (links, text, pictures) and I always get exceptions in the console and nothing happens except that the drop field shows a check mark. Error: http://p

Weird. It's super smooth even in the Android WebKit control embedded in the HN app on Android 4.4.2. It's been a long time since I switched to Chromium but I really thought Firefox got faster by now. Quick screencast: https:

Wow that's a lot. I've got ~3000 hours of TF2 (and a couple hundred hours in other games) but I've been playing TF2 since early 2008 and it never affected my grades at school or my work. I agree that time I enjoyed is definit

And it'll use a lot more power. I wouldn't want a simple logo to keep my GPU busy for no reason when surfing on my phone.

Doesn't matter. If there is no hacker you can call yourself a hacker without any other hacker complaining :D

Good luck with that. Depending on the condition they go $1500-2000+ on eBay these days.

I've always done that and I just checked the comments to see if someone else complained about that horrible flaw. How on earth did they think that text selection as an event to open a popup is a good idea?!

The drone could deposit the load at the landing station where you can pick it up. And food won't be cold after a 100m walk.

The idea of registered landing platforms is actually pretty good. They don't even have to be on private property, but maybe a platform every ~100m or so would be enough. If you order something you get a code or maybe can use your phone

I don't think that's the problem. You know how cruel kids can be. Imagine your classmates in 4th grade would find pictures of you bathing naked. There simply is no good reason to share such photos publicly/online. Show them t

At least on your computers (where it matters) you can change the mapping. If you can touch type you can simply ignore the labels on the keys. I'm building a custom mechanical keyboard (with blank keycaps) and I have changed the various

As far as I know Chrome still uses GDI for its font rendering on Windows instead of the much better DirectWrite API. Firefox, IE10 and so on are using DirectWrite.

The build quality of the razer keyboards is rather bad. That's why. Also this features Cherry MX Clear switches and standard profile keycaps so you can easily get a set of replacement keycaps if you need or want to.
