   Printed dictionaries are basically ordered lists with metadata, so look-ups are O(lg n), and by a human no less! Online dictionaries are likely to be backed by, well, a dictionary , which allows for O(1) look-ups.

   Absolutely. Even though it takes a bit longer, I prefer it to flying precisely because I can work the whole time rather than wait in long lines for TSA pageantry.

   That doesn't sound like differential equations, it sounds like discrete math.
