Just about anything can last that long if maintained. Current phones struggle to last that long simply because that's what works best for companies and there is little consumer demand for change. Our current lifestyle of buying a new p

Marketing is fine. If I buy a drill because of an advert I won't feel compelled to buy a new one next year because it has a slightly different shape and my current one got artificially limited.

The end of marketing phones as fashion devices. Phones should be seen as tools and they should be expected to last about 8-10 years. There is no reason they can't other than apple and the rest make a lot of money on people throwing out

Slow is fine for me. The ones I look at tend to have a slow but quality stream of posts. Encourages you to check just once a day and leave a few well thought out comments. The slowness also means your comments get read by more people before

Lots of invite only websites around that have really great communities. Getting in can be a bit hard but once you are in they tend to cross invite to other invite only sites.

I can see a lot of value in routers becoming mini home servers + IoT device hubs. There should also be some standard way for devices to let the router know if they should have access to the outer internet so things like lightbulbs only have

Basically all home routers block incoming connection because so many shitty IoT devices were built to trust anything that is able to connect to it. My router doesn't even have an option to turn off the block. Can only unblock ports 1 b

Yeah thats what I have done and its not too bad. The one question I have is what email to I put for my domain stuff. If my domain name provider suspends my domain for some reason how do I contact them if my email has also gone down?

Its not particularly hard to back up your google data. The hard part is switching emails when the old one gets suddenly taken from you.

The problem with a blog post is others can't improve it to add more info or fix mistakes. The wiki format is perfect for this.
