Is it normal to render using a CPU? Shouldn’t this test be done against GPUs instead?

The biggest problems I've had with Oracle databases are getting CDC data out of it. There's conflicting technologies with their own tradeoffs - LogMiner vs. Flashback, neither of which cover all use cases well, licensing is ambigu

Is there a market for SiC chips in cloud data centers? I’m unfamiliar with the space, but 50% efficiency gains (if costs can be kept comparable) could be a game changer.

FWIW, the economist just published an article explaining DNA replication that makes this topic much more approachable and understandable for those without background in molecular biology. Dense and worth the read. https://www.eco

IMHO this reduces the need for a full fledged database serving read only information at scale. The restriction before this is that a SQLite file had to be on a single server. Now, having SQLite on S3, you could write a set of scalable web s

I think the sentiment here (and in many comments) is interesting - I've been a consultant for over a decade and felt the same thing in the early parts of my career. Those are really expensive Powerpoints! In the last few years I'v

My thoughts exactly. I wonder if businesses are looking for or needing funding, and the stock market is the one place that looks fine.

Great idea. MobileNetv2 is the model used currently due to it's small footprint (I used transfer learning on a dataset of NSFW and SFW images). A more robust model ran on all positives could improve performance overal.

Shameless plug - I've been working on something similiar, but with a different aim. https://github.com/nmurray1984/porn-blocker-chrome-extension I found that the hardest problem to solve was the prevanlence of fal

Have you tried giving it a problem and having it come up with questions that you you answer? Given it’s clearly making assumptions and conclusions, it would be so interesting to play 20 questions with it. Something like... I’m thinking of a

I think the real innovation here is that this was done on just a few minutes of training data, opening up the possibility for all kinds of effects / amps to be modeled through this same method somewhat easily. I'm not sure how cur

Third parties like Snowflake get around this by having you pick where their service is hosted so that bandwidth and latency aren’t a concern. Further, Snowflake is a good example of an unbundled service that has more capabilities than AWS R

This is similiar to a framework my company utilizes for promotions. The key difference is that everyone at the same level makes the pay. This is great for transparency - everyone knows how someone should be performing and how they are being

I’m new to the OCR space. Given the the successes in self-driving (given no systems are production ready, Waymo and Tesla have MVPs), what makes reading text so hard that cloud providers struggle to have human-level accuracies?

Thanks - I was confusing the stories of Copernicus and Galileo. Galileo’s works, based on Copernicus’s ideas, were declared heretical. While not excommunicated he was persecuted by the church. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wik

An interesting read is On the Revolutions of Heavenly Bodies by Copernicus, even if you just read the introduction. It’s an appeal to the Pope regarding the scientific nature of his conclusions. Regardless, they still excommunicated him yea
