Rspec/cucumber are great, but I’ve recently switched my app to minitest. It’s just as good for unit testing, and its system tests are a joy to work with. The setup and maintenance of rspec/cucumber isn’t worth it for me. It also m

Yeah I totally get that. Not really the best framing. A slightly better framing is they languages within stricter static types put up guardrails. They’re meant to keep you safe. Sometimes they also make it hard for you from going where you

I used to hate Ruby. Last year I spent 10 months alone on a Rails app. I decided to buy in. Do things the Ruby/Rails way. Read books on how to think about OO in Ruby. TDD everything. I can’t quite say what changed. But now Ruby is my f

It’s been a few years since I looked at Vue so I was curious if it was still seeing much growth. Turns out it’s seen a lot of “growth” in the last month. Downloads skyrocketed in December. Does anyone know why?

You’ve got it backwards. Markdown is a superset of HTML. Markdown specific syntax is not valid in HTML pages, but all HTML is valid in Markdown.

Same feelings. I like the idea but in practice I don’t trust it. Or rather, I don’t trust package maintainers to adhere to semver. I prefer to manually go through dependencies updating one at a time and reading the change logs. I usually do

A big part of why I’m a remote is because I like to move around. I mean that in every way possible. I start my day on a chair with a lap desk, move to my kitchen table, patio, back to office desk, etc. Then I get tired of being home and wal

Unfortunately people don’t work that way. People are highly influenced by the way things are presented. There are numerous examples of this. See Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman for a good primer.
