No, it has everything to do with it all - particularly becoming a child again, rather than living via your children, who will eventually no longer be children and then leave you. As for campbell, he studied him plenty and even curated a &qu

no, not even slightly. Im very much in favour of socializing all sorts of things. Ron paul was used to describe the sort of (seemingly) libertarian "leave me alone, i dont want to know you. please go die" views you espoused.

I was absolutely not advocating for not having any thought for the future, nor for "living in the moment". I was saying that you must do both - dont just slave away and expect that you'll live when you're retired (a life

I think you nailed it. This person is not living, and may never live. When their birds fly the coop and, worse, when they themselves retire, they're in for a whole world of emptiness.

I, of course, have plenty of vivid memories from childhood. But I've also been fortunate to be able to travel in all senses - quick tourist vacation, a few months backpacking, and multi-year slow travel where I mostly just lived in dif

This was a both a nice, and extremely depressing, read. It sounds like the author has had a good childhood and is a good parent to their kids. Wonderful. But the whole article is appropriately summarized by their final sentences > You re

Economic growth is not directly proportional to energy consumption. A major feature of any useful tool is that it (often dramatically) reduces energy consumption.

I generally agree. Industrialization puts a decent floor on quality, at low cost. But it also has a ceiling. Perhaps an industrial car is better than your or my artisanal car, but I'm sure there's people who build cars by hand

You're getting caught up on the technical meaning of terms rather than what the author actually wrote. Theyre explicitly saying that most software will no longer be artisianal - a great literary novel - and instead become industrialize

I will never use coderabbit due to the ceo's "apology". It's quite evident that he's a toxic douche and the product can't possibly be great.

Does anyone know how postmodernism nonsense is faring these days in academia? Is it still dominating the humanities (and probably more) or had it started to lose its grip to clear, rationale discourse?

FYI, it's easy to cache the html output of a WordPress site, resulting in essentially a static site with graphical admin, page builder, and all the other bells and whistles.
