This looks like SQL Server Management Studio will be deprecated once this project reaches a v1.0. About time too - as SSMS barely supports SQL Azure at all; pretty much all the useful GUI screens are not available.

Amber Rudd is a lightweight. She almost lost her seat at the snap general election - she's deluded if she thinks the CCHQ would let her become the PM whilst in her "unsafe seat".

That sounds very risky - building a business based on a reverse engineered approach that could change at any time?

Hardware failures could imply "flipped bits" (depending on failure mode) whereas loss of power should just mean "truncated bits".

Some exceptions cannot be handled - that's what makes them exceptional. Other than the page not being pretty it's not breaking any standard practices.

I voted you up as it's rare a Linux man would show any kind of respect to the - actually very very good - NT kernel. Good post also.

I'm not saying it's not true but I am yet to see any advertisement in my Windows 10 anywhere... even Explorer! Anyone else?

AA are just going to buy whatever deal is the best on offer in order to help their market competitiveness i.e. ticket prices.

+1 however I think there is a 3rd kind of developer as well. The 3rd being those who CAN do fizzbuzz/codekata style tests but when faced with a real programming problem in real code base they falter.

The reason why we use Mailgun is to avoid deploying and maintaining e-mail infrastructure which is very hard and high cost. We would rather keep paying Mailgun about $20/mo as this is cheaper by several magnitudes than the self-hosting

There was no Russian interference though. Show us a microgram of evidence? Even Infowars-style speculative evidence would be permissable at this point?

He was being sarcastic... He wasn't shocked; he was mocking the idea that Russia caused Brexit. They didn't. The UK citizens themselves voted for Brexit because they're fed up with all the shit the EU brings with it.

The blog post says strings are expensive but then the product is marketed as begin built around JSON. A pretty expensive way to serialize log data. Generally, launching your startup with a passive-aggressive blog post full of false informat

Yep. The first minifiers were just some regexes to do a search and replace. Undoubtably many nowadays are full tokenisers and build an AST - but I do suspect that there's still plenty of room for improvement.

Is there any news on when .NET Native's stupid AOT compiler (i.e. UWP store apps) will support F#? It is becoming scandalous now. We have a circa 800k LOC F# Xamarin codebase working on iOS and Android but cannot spin up the UWP varian

Oh I see - so it is an adapter not an abstractor. I'm curious what the advantages will be over the widely supported ODBC API. Will you add ODBC support?

Running PHP and indeed WordPress on the .NET CLR seems like a great way to eliminate a whole tranche of bugs/vulnerabilities in one swoop. Respect.

The only thing that could cause such a "ditch and switch" would be Oracle screwing up - which let's face it is quite possible with the way things are going for them. But in any case, I never alluded to that. I simply said ent

There are non-legacy non-mainframey modern RDBMS you know! Hopefully I don't need to point out the very well publicised and ongoing efforts to revamp the .NET CLR and peripheral items to run on non-Windows systems.

Do you know what "watch this space" means? ;) Enterprise apps are moving to the cloud; you need to think about the future not the past. Legacy JDBC drivers to connect to legacy RDBMS? Please! :)
