I usually cd into the main directory I want to be in and then if I ever want to edit a file, simply typing emacs then tab for bash for auto-completion does the trick. But again, just use a bash alias :) What's the problem with that?

You're mentioning HTML so it seems that you're more into web. I'd recommend: Python, Ruby and Javascript. Some would say Python or Ruby. I suggest both. Once you learn one, it's very easy to pick up the other. As much as their similar, thei

Emacs for everything. I am yet to find a more efficient editor. I guess the same can be be said if you're a seasoned Vim user. I used Sublime a little recently for some HTML and CSS. It may be a better choice for some HTML and CSS, in some

You're right. The bigger problem is that Summly does not work as expected.

You can add an alias in bash to fix this. Or type dir && ls. Your assumption is wrong. We don't "type ls after cd". Maybe a lot of times, but definitely not most of the times. I memorize my directories from the first time I'm in tha

From all the app code generators I've seen and used, the experience is absolutely horrendous. Memory leaks, does not five you full access into the API etc... It's a lot easier to suck it up and learn Objective-C than having to deal with the

I have a non-American name and never had an issue with it. In fact, I may be have been extra lucky at times.

The material and what I'm learning. I finished 4 courses so far and what got me through them is strong interest and the drive to learn the material. I only enroll in a MOOC class that I am very interested in; which gets me to the end of it.

College courses aren't as great as they used to be anymore. Most of my college courses are a waste of time and I learn most of the stuff after 2nd year on my own. Note: I'm in the one of the top 15 Engineering departments in the US.

angel.co - The best place to find tech jobs. I got almost 40 interviews in 3 months on it and ended up with a few nice offers. You seem to be based in Australia though and I'm not sure how engaged the Australian community is on AngelList.

Sure. My main problem I find is actually finding what I need. Assume I want to read about the string split method. There are two places that I'd go to: http://docs.python.org/2/library/string.html http://docs.python.org/2/library/stdtype
