Ads are taking over the world because they're actually just a propaganda vehicle and control is the only thing worth money Regulation is too toothless to do anything about it so I think we'll naturally see all corporations evolve

By official stats, aviation is something like 3% of global emissions. Global emissions seem wildly underestimated while aviation emissions are pretty hard to obfuscate. I also couldn't believe when I found out a Learjet 7 seater might

The other poster took the idea you expressed - that "[crypto is] 100% speculative and nothing else" - and further explored the idea, and some markets they have seen where the price action either devolves or remains rational. What

This article seems like pandering. > Medical studies suggest that reaction times peak at 24 and go downhill from there But if this peak is by a few percent, then why would a 35 year old be bad at video games? Also, if reaction times peak

Doesn't it seem likely the cost of the material directly relates to the size and difficulty of creating said hole in the ground?

You're the one making a non-sequitur. Capitalism is an ideology about maximizing profits. You can make a lot more profit if you externalize all your costs. "Privatize the profits, socialize the losses" is a way of saying that

As a non-Haskeller, the only tool I can think of interacting with that has any Haskell is Hasura's graphql-engine[0], which GitHub stats say is 28% Haskell (and then like 55% web languages, so I assume the backend is all Haskell and th

It's pretty clear that's serious. I find it strange you would read this as sarcasm - it's been pretty hard to miss the descent into fascism of the American right wing.

I see, "that really hasn't changed" was a statement on aerodynamics and not volume of insect collisions. Thanks, I agree with what you're saying, good tidbit about the more aerodynamic cars leading to lower probability o

Looks decent, pretty minimalistic. The form / input styles should use :focus-within instead of :hover to apply styles, using "power-user" keyboard navigation with tab and such doesn't correctly show what you have focused

With respect to showing a loader, it’s a solution. Not fully sure I understand the mechanism - is it based on the class or does all content of the div with hx-trigger get replaced? Or even worse is the image still there with opacity 0? Howe

Sort of. It’s more like when you create an object, you can display the object inline immediately with a JS layer, plus show some status attribute or however deep you like. This explicitly only works with GETters and I can’t imagine how you
